November News

A special meeting of the congregation is called for Sunday, November 9th, 2008, immediately following worship to act upon a report of the Congregational Nominating
Committee.
Attest:
Jefferey Gauronski, Clerk of Session
Rev. Louise N. Armstrong, Moderator of Session
We will be painting the corridor floor in the CE building on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 26th. With the support of at least 10 people we can finish the job by 8:30 PM if we start at 7:00. Older teens and women are welcome to join in this once-a-year project to keep our facility looking good. We are now using latex paint, so clean up is a breeze and fumes are not a problem.

Habitat for Humanity
PIES – PIES – PIES!
What goes together better than Thanksgiving and pies? The Penfield Churches Habitat Project is again this season offering pies from Kelly’s Farm Market for your holiday celebrations.
These extra deep 10” fruit pies will arrive just in time for Thanksgiving week celebrations. Kelly’s grows the fruit, and makes each pie from scratch and without preservatives. Each pie weighs approx. 4.5 lbs. and will provide 8 to 10 generous servings. They freeze well, so consider ordering for both Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Thank you for supporting Habitat for Humanity through this fundraiser. You are making a difference in the lives of many—one family at a time.
Pies are $14.00 each. All orders must be pre-paid — deadline is Friday, November 21st, 2008. Attach your check with your completed order form and place in the offering plate Pick-up will be at First Baptist Church (Rt. 441) on Tuesday, November 25 after 1:00 p.m. and up to 6:00 p.m. (Note that this is different than we have done in the past, there will not be a pick up at PPC)
Questions? Call Al Santos @ 241-3796 or Ray Griswold @ 264-0232.
(Make checks out to Penfield Presbyterian Church —note “Habitat Pies”)
Order forms are in the Crossroads Lounge and the new foyer.
Thanksgiving Turkeys
The Deacons will be collecting money to order twenty-five turkeys for the Penfield Food Shelf. You may make your donation on November 9 or 16 after church. The Deacons will be available in the Fellowship Foyer. Welcome “Wilber “ back.
For Early Christmas Shoppers
The Deacons will be supporting two groups for Christmas. First, there will be suggestions for gifts for children who are serviced by the Penfield Food Shelf. Second, when you are doing your Christmas shopping, please remember our adult friends in the Cameron neighborhood and purchase one or more items to share with those in need. Here is a list of practical suggested gifts in the $10-15 range:
Every guest who attends the Cameron Christmas luncheon will receive a gift.
Another “NOOMA NIGHT”
When: Friday November 14th
Time: 6:30 till about 8:15 pm
Cost: $7.50 per person (for food)
“NOOMA Night” is a time of fellowship and light-hearted, yet meaningful, spiritual discourse. Join us and invite a friend or neighbor!
We gather together for a simple take-out meal, watch a short NOOMA video and then enjoy a time of dynamic conversation and reflection. Each innovative video communicates a unique message relevant to Christians today and stimulates provocative discussion with no right or wrong answers.
Sign up in the Crossroads Lounge or call the church office (377-1620) no later than 12:00 noon on Friday. We need to have an accurate count of participants so we can order the right amount of food.
You oughta be in pixels! Nativity actors of all ages will be staged and photographed in advance of the Sunday, December 21 Christmas Pageant. Scenes of the story of Jesus’ birth will be shot at various locations around town and converted into a PowerPoint slide show. In the final performance, only one adult and four children are needed. The rest of the cast may sit back and watch themselves on the big screen.
No memorization of lines nor stage fright. We will take the costumes on the road while the weather is still nice. Who knows, maybe there can be a real donkey or sheep in the pageant this year. The possibilities are astounding and fun!
The title of the show is “Through the Eyes of a Child”. The narrative is a blend of Scripture and childlike observations about the First Christmas. There are plenty of roles for adults too, such as site coordination, production, transportation, etc.
Anybody wanting to be a part of this premier show should contact Kevin Krueger at ppcce@rochester.rr.com.
