Welcome from the Pastor
Welcome to Penfield Presbyterian Church! We are so glad to have you visit our website and hope you will visit us either online or in person, as well. Worship is at 10:00 am on Sundays and is available both online and in person. You are also welcome to participate in group activities separate from the worship hour.
We are a warm and engaging congregation that is active in missional pursuits, can be creative, and has a sense of humor. We love to laugh, sing, eat, work, and learn together. We also have a wide variety of opinions on theology, politics, and much more, yet like a real family, we love one another in spirit and in deed despite the diversity of opinion.
We cherish our children and encourage them to be children, which means sometimes there are somes extra sounds during worship. Jesus said to let the little children come.
We are not large in membership, yet we are active in the community, within the congregation, and in the greater Rochester area. We strive to make sure there is truly a place for everyone in our congregation and will happily seek creative ways to help everyone who wants to participate feel at home. Join us!
About Pastor Twyla
The Rev. Twyla Boyer was raised in the Presbyterian church. As a child she sang the choir, attended Sunday School, participated in youth group, and was confirmed. However, it wasn’t until she was in her thirties that she felt called to ministry as a vocation. Twyla entered Pittsburgh Theological seminary in fall of 2002 and graduated in May of 2005. She has served 8 churches in 3 presbyteries – two as a student, two as Associate Pastor, two as Interim Pastor, and two as a called and installed Pastor.
Pastor Twyla was installed at Penfield in May 2020 is now in what she considered the joyful phase of ministry with a congregation that is creative, loving, welcoming, and open. She is active in the presbytery and passionate about loving our neighbors as ourselves and following the teachings of Jesus in a way that is invitational and non-judgmental. Pastor Twyla is eager to greet you in worship and welcomes your call, text, or email.
